The New South Wales Greens are supporting a campaign to stop a recreational fishing trial in marine park sanctuary zones.
Fearing a reduction in fish stocks, more than 200 scientists recently signed a protest letter to the state government demanding an end to the trial.
Greens spokesperson Mehreen Faruqui said, “We do know that because of those no take zones there has been much more fish in the sanctuary zones so making sure we keep some “no take” zones is really critical.”
