THE Sunshine Coast Environment Council (SCEC) and Save Our Marine Life Alliance has put out a call to Sunshine Coast divers, tourism operators, conservationists, scientists, fishermen and other marine-loving people to get down to Alexandra Headland on Tuesday to show their support for marine sanctuaries!
At 12.30pm they plan to unfurl an enormous, colourful banner containing hundreds of photos taken by people across Australia over summer, highlighting the diversity and strength of support in the community for marine sanctuaries.
The event is timed to take place one week before the Advisory Panel for the Federal Review into the Commonwealth Marine Reserves comes to Mooloolaba. Philip Hart from Sunreef Scuba Diving Mooloolaba will represent the group to the media.
The banner has been produced by the Save our Marine Life Alliance who will be in town for the film screening of The Sea & Me on Tuesday night at Maroochydore Surf Club.
The banner unfurling will take place in the park beside the HMAS Brisbane memorial
