Add your name and create Christmas & Cocos (Keeling) Islands Marine Parks.
The Australian Government has initiated the next stage of creating two globally significant marine parks around Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands in Australia’s Indian Ocean Territories.
Co-designed with local island communities, they include vital sanctuaries covering around 739,000 square kilometres – that’s bigger than Victoria, Tasmania and ACT combined! This is a huge win for our marine life and island communities.
The government is now asking for your feedback. This is the next crucial step in getting these marine parks over the line.
Creating world-class marine parks will provide critical protection for a wealth of marine life, make a significant global contribution to the health of our oceans, and bring much-needed benefits to the people of Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
By adding your name in support of these plans, you can make a huge contribution to global conservation efforts at a time our oceans need it most, while ensuring local needs and aspirations are met.
Please help protect our oceans today!
