Help protect the Kimberley’s Buccaneer Archipelago
Good news, the WA Government has released plans to create marine parks over the Kimberley’s Buccaneer Archipelago!
This is the next important step in finalising the Great Kimberley Marine Park which together we’ve helped put in place over the last few years.
The Buccaneer Archipelago is a truly spectacular place. Coral lagoons, seagrass meadows and deep-water canyons surround one thousand islands of the archipelago. The pristine waters are an oasis for humpback whales, sea turtles, dolphins and dugongs – plus rare corals found nowhere else on earth.
This is also a major milestone for the Bardi Jawi, Mayala and Dambimangari Traditional Owners of the area, who have worked alongside government to design these new marine parks.
