Make sure your local MP watches Attenborough’s OCEAN
This movie night could shift the future of our oceans – for good!
Sir David Attenborough’s new film OCEAN explores vibrant reefs, vast kelp forests, coastal communities and the damage being done by industrial fishing and climate change.
But it also offers hope, with a clear path to ocean recovery and the powerful message:
“If we save the sea, we save our world.”
It’s a message our decision makers need to hear. Which is why this month, we’ll be showing the film at Parliament House!
We have invited all members of Federal Parliament to attend the screening. But there’s no guarantee they’ll show up, unless they start hearing from their constituents.
Imagine the impact if every seat was filled with someone who can shape ocean policy!
Can you help us make sure they turn up?
Let’s do it — for Sir David, for the ocean, and for humankind.
Here’s the letter you will send
Dear Member
Recently Save Our Marine Life, Pew Charitable Trusts, The Australian Marine Conservation Society, Greenpeace and WWF, invited you to an exclusive abridged screening of internationally acclaimed OCEAN with David Attenborough, followed by a panel discussion.
Date: Wed 30 July, 2025
Time: 6pm – 7:30pm
Venue: The Dame Dorothy Tangney Alcove, Parliament House, Canberra
Sir David Attenborough’s OCEAN delivers his greatest message of hope, which takes viewers on a breathtaking journey showing there is nowhere more vital for our survival, more full of life, wonder, or surprise, than the ocean.
As my elected representative, I urge you to attend this important screening and hear first-hand from ocean experts about the need to increase protection for Australia’s oceans.
Our oceans produce more oxygen than all the world’s forests combined. They absorb excess heat, store carbon, and regulate our climate—keeping life on Earth in balance.
But right now, our oceans are under threat. Industrial and illegal overfishing, bottom trawling, oil and gas drilling, and pollution are pushing our oceans to the brink. Without urgent action, we risk losing our precious marine life and the benefits our oceans provide.
Marine sanctuaries are the heart of a healthy ocean. They protect vital feeding and breeding areas, boost fish populations, and help marine life thrive. They also support tourism, local businesses and fishing into the future.
I strongly support all efforts to protect our oceans, and encourage you to attend the OCEAN screening on 30th July as my federal representative.
This has gone to my Local MP and Senators in my state.
Sincerely
