The Sea & Me, a new film documenting the extraordinary seas surrounding Australia and the inspiring people who look after it, premieres this week.
Two award-winning young filmmakers have toured around Australia’s coast interviewing communities, business owners, fishers, divers and researchers and documenting flagship species like the charismatic manta rays of Ningaloo Reef, the prized coral trout of the Great Barrier Reef and Tasmania’s valuable rock lobsters.
With breathtaking vision, The Sea & Me explores communities where marine sanctuaries have been in place for up to 20 years and shares the success stories of world class conservation and recreation working hand in hand.
A roadshow of screenings in coastal communities kicks off with Cairns on Tuesday. The film is also en route to Ulladulla, Sydney, Port Stephens, Adelaide, Margaret River, Perth, Broome, Darwin and Brisbane.
