The NSW government’s putting eco-tourism and marine life at risk by allowing fishing in state marine sanctuaries, a new report claims.
The report, by a coalition of environmental groups, says the government is not acting in the interests of anglers or the tourism industry by letting line fishing go ahead in state marine sanctuaries.
It says the state government is compromising the diving and whale watching industries by allowing fishing in the areas, which cover about seven per cent of NSW waterways.
