ABC News: Government to decide fate of sanctuary zones
A recent survey of more than 1000 people has shown the majority strongly oppose fishing in sanctuary zones.
The Galaxy poll which was commissioned by the Dive Industry Association found 91 per cent of recreational fishers support the sanctuaries.
The government will this week decide whether to wind-back marine protection and allow fishing to take place in the zones on a permanent basis.
