Protesters gather to tell Premier Mike Baird he’s doing a good job, no kidding

Conservationists have demonstrated in support of Premier Mike Baird’s statements that he wants to protect marine wildlife.
Groups including the Wilderness Society, Sea Shepherd, Eco Divers, and Manly Environment Centre and the Manly Chamber of Commerce converged on Shelly Beach on Saturday with a sign of congratulations for the new Premier and Manly MP.
The group came together to welcome Mr Baird’s stance on providing improved protections for the NSW marine estate.
Shortly after his rise to the premiership, Mr Baird told the Manly Daily he wanted improved marine environmental protections.
“I have a strong view on protecting our marine environment,” he said.
“If there are other areas we need to protect, we should.”The Government has been under attack from conservationists for allowing recreational fishing in “no-take” marine sanctuary zones.
Event organiser Charlotte Richardson said she was heartened by Mr Baird’s comments.
“We are really excited to see what he’s going to come up with,” she said.
“We hope he will follow through with his commitment. I have faith that he will.”
