The Canberra Times: Failing to pay the true price of fish

Many anglers speak glowingly of the benefits of eating fresh fish: its flesh is lean, simple to prepare, and rich in protein and healthy Omega-3 oils. Yet too often their respect for the animals ends with the joy of the catch, or with its taste. The campaigns that amateur fishing groups waged in recent years against small marine parks on the NSW and South Australian coasts have been absurdly short-sighted. These anglers deem their ”right” to fish in a location that best suits them as more important than the very survival of the species they savour.
