North Coast Aboriginal elders have criticised a state government amnesty on shoreline recreational fishing in the Solitary Islands Marine Park (SIMP). The O’Farrell government is considering making the amnesty permanent. A NSW Greens politician has been told by scientists on the north coast that they would like to see much larger Marine Park sanctuary, or ‘no take’ zones.
